Self drilling screws, self cutting screws or Tek Screws enable the assembler to quickly attach materials such as steel, aluminium, composites or
timber to steel section, or similar, up to 35mm thickness without the need for any pre-drilling or thread tapping. Each screw features a special
cutting tip and tapping thread the design of which varies depending on the material that is being screwed into.
Increasingly relied upon in modern
construction projects where their speed and efficiency of use considerably reduce labour costs.
We offer the full range of high performance
Evolution self drilling screws each of which are available in up to 4 material types. The Evoshield coating provides what we think as the best
compromise between corrosion resistance and cost and is available on the majority of Evolution products.
Where a higher level of corrosion
resistance is required the A2 or A4 bi-metal variant provides a stainless fastener with a high performance non-stainless cutting tip. Though
costly, this option offers the best of both worlds: a stainless tek screw capable of drilling through depths of steel up to 12.5mm.
A
lower cost zinc plated option is available where corrosion resistance is not a priority, such as for
internal ducting and metal framing applications.
The standard DIN 7504 in different head types
and materials, including stainless steel, are available for light duty applications where the high performance
of the Evolution range is not required.
